Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Plastic and Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.03% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Logah Technology Corp (TW:3593), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) added 9.93% or 3.50 points to end at 38.75 and Well Shin Technology Co Ltd (TW:3501) was up 9.85% or 5.40 points to 60.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Optotech Corp (TW:2340), which fell 9.50% or 2.10 points to trade at 20.00 at the close. Nien Hsing Textile Co Ltd (TW:1451) declined 8.76% or 3.20 points to end at 33.35 and Lien Chang Electronic Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:2431) was down 8.59% or 1.55 points to 16.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 429 to 352 and 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nien Hsing Textile Co Ltd (TW:1451) fell to 5-year highs; losing 8.76% or 3.20 to 33.35. Shares in Well Shin Technology Co Ltd (TW:3501) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.85% or 5.40 to 60.20.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.33% or 0.17 to $51.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.25 to trade at $1291.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.32% to 30.272, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2178.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.03.
