Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Electricity and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 0.63 points to trade at 6.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics (TW:3504) added 10.00% or 3.05 points to end at 33.55 and Vivotek (TW:3454) was up 9.89% or 6.90 points to 76.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Walton Chainte (TW:2425), which fell 9.85% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.85 at the close. Chilisin Elec (TW:2456) declined 9.19% or 4.25 points to end at 42.00 and Tpk Holding (TW:3673) was down 8.75% or 11.50 points to 120.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 651 to 194.
Shares in Walton Chainte (TW:2425) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.85% or 1.95 to 17.85. Shares in Tpk Holding (TW:3673) fell to all time lows; down 8.75% or 11.50 to 120.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.07% or 0.04 to $48.76 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $53.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.74% or 8.10 to trade at $1085.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 31.505, while TWD/CNY fell 0.31% to 0.1959.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 97.49.
