Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, Semiconductor and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were China Steel Ch (TW:1723), which rose 9.95% or 10.50 points to trade at 116.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Microelectroni (TW:2314) added 9.94% or 0.81 points to end at 8.96 and San Chih (TW:3579) was up 9.91% or 1.10 points to 12.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which fell 3.66% or 1.40 points to trade at 36.90 at the close. Asia Plastic (TW:1337) declined 3.60% or 0.75 points to end at 20.10 and Formosa Hotel (TW:2707) was down 3.24% or 7.00 points to 209.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 507 to 331 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.44% or 0.20 to $46.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.52% or 6.10 to trade at $1185.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.51% to 32.195, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1966.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 93.87.
