Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Semiconductor and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016), which rose 9.95% or 3.70 points to trade at 40.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp (TW:3189) added 9.94% or 5.00 points to end at 55.30 and Ritek Corp (TW:2349) was up 9.93% or 0.560 points to 6.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which fell 10.00% or 5.20 points to trade at 46.80 at the close. Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) declined 10.00% or 5.00 points to end at 45.00 and Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708) was down 8.96% or 9.50 points to 96.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 484 to 296 and 129 ended unchanged.
Shares in Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.95% or 3.70 to 40.90.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.72% or 0.51 to $70.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.64% or 0.49 to hit $75.68 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1314.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 29.745, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2134.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.57.
