Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Paper & Pulp and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannstar Display Corp (TW:6116) added 10.00% or 1.100 points to end at 12.100 and Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) was up 10.00% or 5.60 points to 61.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592), which fell 9.88% or 3.80 points to trade at 34.65 at the close. Greatek Electronics Inc (TW:2441) declined 5.42% or 2.75 points to end at 47.95 and Jung Shing Wire Co Ltd (TW:1617) was down 3.15% or 0.40 points to 12.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 563 to 210 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.88% or 3.80 to 34.65. Shares in Hannstar Display Corp (TW:6116) rose to 3-years highs; up 10.00% or 1.100 to 12.100. Shares in Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 5.60 to 61.60.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.14% or 0.07 to $48.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $52.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.04 to trade at $1293.66 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.262, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2203.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 93.22.
