Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935), which rose 9.95% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Lotes Co Ltd (TW:3533) added 9.94% or 17.50 points to end at 193.50 and Da-Li Development Co Ltd (TW:6177) was up 9.93% or 2.65 points to 29.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which fell 7.57% or 0.56 points to trade at 6.84 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 4.83% or 1.05 points to end at 20.70 and Hannstar Display Corp (TW:6116) was down 4.44% or 0.500 points to 10.750.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 663 to 134 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.95% or 2.00 to 22.10. Shares in Lotes Co Ltd (TW:3533) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.94% or 17.50 to 193.50. Shares in Da-Li Development Co Ltd (TW:6177) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.93% or 2.65 to 29.35.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $46.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.80% or 10.28 to trade at $1293.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 30.313, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2211.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.33.
