Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Cement and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which rose 9.96% or 0.96 points to trade at 10.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Calin (TW:4976) added 9.94% or 3.10 points to end at 34.30 and Goodway (TW:1583) was up 9.93% or 7.00 points to 77.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Roo Hsing (TW:4414), which fell 9.98% or 2.15 points to trade at 19.40 at the close. Gamma Optical (TW:3557) declined 8.87% or 0.550 points to end at 5.650 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was down 6.33% or 2.50 points to 37.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 454 to 320 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Inventec Besta (TW:8201) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.96% or 0.96 to 10.60. Shares in Goodway (TW:1583) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.93% or 7.00 to 77.50.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.60% or 0.29 to $48.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.37% or 0.19 to hit $51.18 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 8.45 to trade at $1209.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.42% to 30.912, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2238.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 100.92.
