Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Optoelectronic and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.72% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tah Tong Texti (TW:1441), which rose 9.99% or 0.67 points to trade at 7.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Microelectroni (TW:2314) added 9.97% or 0.97 points to end at 10.70 and Thunder Tiger (TW:8033) was up 9.92% or 0.87 points to 9.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 8.50% or 0.170 points to trade at 1.830 at the close. Macronix (TW:2337) declined 7.99% or 0.230 points to end at 2.650 and Evertex (TW:1470) was down 4.32% or 0.80 points to 17.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 508 to 236 and 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in Macronix (TW:2337) fell to all time lows; down 7.99% or 0.230 to 2.650.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.04% or 0.51 to $48.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.18% or 0.59 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1218.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.621, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2018.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.76.
