Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronic Parts/Components and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.72% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco Technology Corp (TW:3532), which rose 10.00% or 13.00 points to trade at 143.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) added 10.00% or 5.20 points to end at 57.20 and Spirox Corp (TW:3055) was up 10.00% or 3.00 points to 33.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which fell 7.29% or 7.10 points to trade at 90.30 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) declined 7.17% or 3.60 points to end at 46.60 and Unitech Printed Circuit Board Corp (TW:2367) was down 6.53% or 1.60 points to 22.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 422 to 373 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Formosa Sumco Technology Corp (TW:3532) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 10.00% or 13.00 to 143.00. Shares in Spirox Corp (TW:3055) rose to 5-year highs; up 10.00% or 3.00 to 33.00.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.11% or 0.07 to $63.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.20% or 2.70 to trade at $1330.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.48% to 29.238, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2172.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 90.48.
