Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Plastic and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Fast Optoelectronics Co Ltd (TW:3622), which rose 9.97% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.40 at the close. Meanwhile, First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which fell 9.94% or 7.10 points to trade at 64.30 at the close. Meiloon Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2477) declined 7.21% or 2.05 points to end at 26.40 and Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645) was down 6.67% or 6.00 points to 84.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 568 to 215 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Young Fast Optoelectronics Co Ltd (TW:3622) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.97% or 1.85 to 20.40. Shares in First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 9.92% or 1.25 to 13.85. Shares in Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.86% or 1.40 to 15.60.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.64% or 0.38 to $60.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.60% or 0.40 to hit $66.56 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1297.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.43% to 29.697, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.27.
