Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Semiconductor and Information Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc (TW:3437), which rose 9.92% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) added 9.90% or 2.00 points to end at 22.20 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 9.72% or 1.20 points to 13.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Universal Cement Corp (TW:1104), which fell 4.42% or 1.10 points to trade at 23.80 at the close. Yoko International Corp (TW:6131) declined 4.19% or 0.70 points to end at 16.00 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) was down 4.01% or 1.30 points to 31.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 539 to 228 and 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.72% or 1.20 to 13.55.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.13% or 0.06 to $44.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.13 to hit $47.05 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.28 to trade at $1255.88 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.43% to 30.375, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2242.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 97.46.
