Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Semiconductor and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.68% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786), which rose 9.93% or 4.05 points to trade at 44.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Quotient International Co Ltd (TW:6145) added 9.84% or 1.25 points to end at 13.95 and Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) was up 9.75% or 1.15 points to 12.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540), which fell 6.21% or 1.80 points to trade at 27.20 at the close. New Palace International Co Ltd (TW:8940) declined 4.18% or 0.65 points to end at 14.90 and Qisda Corp (TW:2352) was down 3.51% or 0.85 points to 23.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 475 to 292 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.75% or 1.15 to 12.95.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.11% or 0.53 to $48.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.10% or 0.55 to hit $50.50 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 1.98 to trade at $1282.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.095, while TWD/CNY fell 0.26% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 96.76.
