Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Gamma Optical (TW:3557) added 10.00% or 0.300 points to end at 3.300 and Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) was up 9.98% or 0.57 points to 6.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Choice Develop (TW:9929), which fell 4.35% or 0.50 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Evertex (TW:1470) declined 4.29% or 0.80 points to end at 17.85 and Long Da (TW:5519) was down 3.60% or 0.40 points to 10.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 455 to 269 and 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Choice Develop (TW:9929) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.35% or 0.50 to 11.00. Shares in Long Da (TW:5519) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.60% or 0.40 to 10.70.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.76% or 0.38 to $49.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.49 to hit $50.16 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.45% or 5.75 to trade at $1286.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 32.260, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2039.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 93.60.
