Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Paper & Pulp and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.65% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lead Data Inc (TW:2443), which rose 9.97% or 0.61 points to trade at 6.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402) added 9.97% or 1.85 points to end at 20.40 and Davicom Semiconductor Inc (TW:3094) was up 9.87% or 2.35 points to 26.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which fell 5.78% or 0.52 points to trade at 8.48 at the close. Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) declined 5.41% or 2.10 points to end at 36.70 and JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) was down 5.38% or 1.50 points to 26.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 487 to 258 and 133 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.74% or 0.84 to $47.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.68% or 0.85 to hit $49.78 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 6.82 to trade at $1260.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 30.128, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2262.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.18.
