Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Paper & Pulp and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ko Ja Cayman Co Ltd (TW:5215), which rose 9.98% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201) added 9.96% or 1.15 points to end at 12.70 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was up 9.94% or 3.15 points to 34.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sino Horizon Holdings Ltd (TW:2923), which fell 5.64% or 1.15 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (TW:2368) declined 5.15% or 0.70 points to end at 12.90 and Iron Force Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2228) was down 5.04% or 4.40 points to 82.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 522 to 277 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ko Ja Cayman Co Ltd (TW:5215) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.98% or 2.70 to 29.75.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $51.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $60.01 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1251.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 30.863, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 97.107.
