Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.61% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which rose 9.97% or 3.40 points to trade at 37.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) added 9.97% or 1.65 points to end at 18.20 and Formosa Sumco Technology Corp (TW:3532) was up 9.96% or 11.50 points to 127.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645), which fell 8.30% or 8.10 points to trade at 89.50 at the close. Hwa Fong Rubber Ind Co Ltd (TW:2109) declined 8.14% or 1.25 points to end at 14.10 and Tatung Co (TW:2371) was down 7.13% or 1.95 points to 25.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 505 to 270 and 114 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.05% or 0.03 to $64.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $69.38 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.82% or 11.00 to trade at $1328.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 29.563, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2177.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 90.56.
