Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.49% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Unizyx Holding (TW:3704), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Kpt Industries (TW:1805) added 9.98% or 0.58 points to end at 6.39 and Genius (TW:3406) was up 9.97% or 17.00 points to 187.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pqi (TW:6145), which fell 6.54% or 1.00 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Sinher (TW:4999) declined 4.43% or 2.50 points to end at 53.90 and Kingcan (TW:8411) was down 4.20% or 1.40 points to 31.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 402 to 385 and 94 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.44% or 0.23 to $52.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $55.40 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1241.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.039, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 100.35.
