Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Communication and Internet and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which rose 9.89% or 4.20 points to trade at 46.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Genius (TW:3406) added 9.89% or 7.40 points to end at 82.20 and Onano (TW:6405) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 10.00% or 0.52 points to trade at 4.68 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.74% or 0.26 points to end at 2.41 and Tai-I (TW:1613) was down 9.73% or 0.250 points to 2.320.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 382 to 366 and 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.89% or 4.20 to 46.65. Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 0.52 to 4.68. Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.89% or 7.40 to 82.20. Shares in Genesis Photon (TW:3383) fell to all time lows; losing 9.74% or 0.26 to 2.41. Shares in Tai-I (TW:1613) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.73% or 0.250 to 2.320.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.31% or 0.15 to $47.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.31% or 0.15 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.13% or 1.55 to trade at $1212.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.24% to 31.859, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 101.02.
