Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Rubber and Communication and Internet sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were G-Tech (TW:3149), which rose 9.97% or 0.89 points to trade at 9.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Htc Corp (TW:2498) added 7.78% or 6.90 points to end at 95.60 and Wistron Neweb (TW:6285) was up 7.31% or 5.70 points to 83.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chlitina (TW:4137), which fell 6.58% or 12.00 points to trade at 170.50 at the close. New Palace (TW:8940) declined 5.51% or 0.95 points to end at 16.30 and Microtek Intl (TW:2305) was down 4.89% or 0.48 points to 9.33.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 365 to 359 and 128 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.16% or 0.08 to $50.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.43 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.47% or 5.85 to trade at $1252.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.51% to 32.170, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2044.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 93.78.
