Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Machinery and Other Electronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661), which rose 10.00% or 10.50 points to trade at 115.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) added 9.99% or 3.75 points to end at 41.30 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.96% or 2.55 points to 28.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AOPEN Inc (TW:3046), which fell 4.19% or 0.18 points to trade at 4.12 at the close. Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557) declined 4.03% or 0.500 points to end at 11.900 and Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) was down 3.39% or 2.30 points to 65.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 420 to 334 and 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 10.50 to 115.50.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $52.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $58.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.91 to trade at $1282.09 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.227, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2202.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.20.
