Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Parts/Components and Computers & Peripherals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Visual Photoni (TW:2455), which rose 9.97% or 3.80 points to trade at 41.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Sitronix (TW:8016) added 9.94% or 7.00 points to end at 77.40 and Holtek (TW:6202) was up 9.93% or 4.30 points to 47.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nantex Industr (TW:2108), which fell 9.94% or 2.40 points to trade at 21.75 at the close. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) declined 9.76% or 0.20 points to end at 1.85 and Jye Tai (TW:6165) was down 8.96% or 0.60 points to 6.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 505 to 340.
Shares in Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) fell to all time lows; falling 9.76% or 0.20 to 1.85. Shares in Jye Tai (TW:6165) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.96% or 0.60 to 6.10.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.52% or 0.24 to $47.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.88% or 0.47 to hit $53.00 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.40 to trade at $1096.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 31.491, while TWD/CNY fell 0.25% to 0.1960.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 96.80.
