Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Auto, Electronic Parts/Components and Machinery sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.27% to hit a new all time high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Darfon Electronics Corp (TW:8163), which rose 9.95% or 3.15 points to trade at 34.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033) added 9.80% or 1.25 points to end at 14.00 and Shuttle Inc (TW:2405) was up 9.80% or 1.95 points to 21.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Taiwan Paiho Ltd (TW:9938), which fell 10.00% or 12.50 points to trade at 112.50 at the close. Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958) declined 9.96% or 3.65 points to end at 33.00 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) was down 9.92% or 3.70 points to 33.60.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 500 to 265 and 125 ended unchanged.

Shares in Darfon Electronics Corp (TW:8163) rose to 5-year highs; up 9.95% or 3.15 to 34.80. Shares in Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.80% or 1.25 to 14.00.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.34% or 0.22 to $64.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.36% or 0.25 to hit $70.01 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 6.30 to trade at $1341.20 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 29.541, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2179.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 90.20.
