Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Textile and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Infodisc Tech (TW:2491), which rose 9.98% or 0.63 points to trade at 6.94 at the close. Meanwhile, Taita Chemical (TW:1309) added 9.98% or 0.88 points to end at 9.70 and Everspring Ind (TW:2390) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.73% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.06 at the close. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 4.75% or 0.190 points to end at 3.810 and First Steamshi (TW:2601) was down 4.70% or 0.37 points to 7.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 429 to 337 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; down 9.73% or 0.33 to 3.06. Shares in Taita Chemical (TW:1309) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.98% or 0.88 to 9.70.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.21% or 0.60 to $50.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.29% or 0.67 to hit $52.51 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.45 to trade at $1177.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 31.882, while TWD/CNY rose 0.42% to 0.2159.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 101.30.
