Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electricity and Other Electronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133), which rose 9.87% or 0.93 points to trade at 10.35 at the close. Meanwhile, First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) added 7.49% or 0.70 points to end at 10.05 and Tsang Yow Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1568) was up 6.91% or 2.75 points to 42.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merida Industry Co Ltd (TW:9914), which fell 5.40% or 8.50 points to trade at 149.00 at the close. China Metal Products Co Ltd (TW:1532) declined 5.27% or 1.70 points to end at 30.55 and Headway Advanced Materials Inc (TW:1776) was down 4.28% or 0.90 points to 20.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 392 to 369 and 117 ended unchanged.
Shares in Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.87% or 0.93 to 10.35. Shares in Headway Advanced Materials Inc (TW:1776) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.28% or 0.90 to 20.15.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.54 to trade at $1236.24 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 30.358, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 94.60.
