Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Transasia (TW:6702), which rose 10.00% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.98% or 2.00 points to end at 22.05 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.86% or 2.15 points to 23.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grape King (TW:1707), which fell 9.89% or 18.50 points to trade at 168.50 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 5.83% or 1.30 points to end at 21.00 and Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) was down 5.52% or 0.27 points to 4.62.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 437 to 321 and 119 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tpcc (TW:4725) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.86% or 2.15 to 23.95.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.56% or 0.30 to $54.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.32 to hit $57.14 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.60% or 6.95 to trade at $1158.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 32.255, while TWD/CNY rose 0.47% to 0.2148.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 102.68.
