Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Chemicals and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gtm Corp (TW:1437), which rose 9.97% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Shenmao (TW:3305) added 9.94% or 2.50 points to end at 27.65 and G.M.I (TW:3312) was up 9.89% or 0.64 points to 7.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.60% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.26 at the close. Geo Vision (TW:3356) declined 7.61% or 4.30 points to end at 52.20 and Acer (TW:2353) was down 7.59% or 1.15 points to 14.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 400 to 334 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gtm Corp (TW:1437) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.97% or 1.50 to 16.55. Shares in Shenmao (TW:3305) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.94% or 2.50 to 27.65. Shares in Geo Vision (TW:3356) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.61% or 4.30 to 52.20.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.48% or 0.21 to $43.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.20% or 0.09 to hit $46.13 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.35% or 4.70 to trade at $1345.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.13% to 31.361, while TWD/CNY rose 0.28% to 0.2120.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.89.
