Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Communication and Internet, Trading & Consumer Goods and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 0.63 points to trade at 6.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivotek (TW:3454) added 9.97% or 7.00 points to end at 77.20 and Apex (TW:3052) was up 9.73% or 0.90 points to 10.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merry Eltrs (TW:2439), which fell 10.00% or 5.10 points to trade at 45.90 at the close. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) declined 10.00% or 12.00 points to end at 108.00 and Azurewave (TW:3694) was down 9.97% or 1.65 points to 14.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 573 to 267 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 5.10 to 45.90. Shares in Tpk Holding (TW:3673) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 12.00 to 108.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.77% or 0.38 to $48.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.73% or 0.39 to hit $52.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.00 to trade at $1083.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 31.618, while TWD/CNY rose 0.25% to 0.1967.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 97.43.
