Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Rubber sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Daxin (TW:5234), which rose 9.93% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Space Shuttle (TW:2440) added 9.91% or 0.87 points to end at 9.65 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.89% or 1.75 points to 19.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 7.89% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.70 at the close. Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464) declined 5.34% or 17.00 points to end at 301.50 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) was down 4.04% or 0.11 points to 2.61.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 405 to 337 and 132 ended unchanged.
Shares in Daxin (TW:5234) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.93% or 3.65 to 40.40. Shares in Pao Lung (TW:1906) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.89% or 1.75 to 19.45.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.30% or 0.16 to $53.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.33% or 0.19 to hit $56.70 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.55 to trade at $1174.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.04% to 31.970, while TWD/CNY rose 0.28% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 101.72.
