Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Optoelectronic and Information Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Altek Corp (TW:3059), which rose 10.00% or 3.05 points to trade at 33.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Dah San Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1615) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935) was up 9.96% or 2.45 points to 27.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yulon Nissan Motor Co Ltd (TW:2227), which fell 7.77% or 22.00 points to trade at 261.00 at the close. Chia Chang Co Ltd (TW:4942) declined 6.07% or 1.50 points to end at 23.20 and AOPEN Inc (TW:3046) was down 5.14% or 0.19 points to 3.51.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 390 to 387 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Altek Corp (TW:3059) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 3.05 to 33.55. Shares in Dah San Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1615) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 1.20 to 13.20. Shares in Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 9.96% or 2.45 to 27.05.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.33% or 0.16 to $47.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.91 to trade at $1291.91 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 30.288, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2199.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 93.47.
