Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Other and Iron & Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cx Tech (TW:2415), which rose 10.00% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Right Way Ind (TW:1506) added 9.79% or 2.15 points to end at 24.10 and Sunrace (TW:1526) was up 9.73% or 1.60 points to 18.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which fell 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 13.05 at the close. Pihsiang (TW:1729) declined 9.98% or 5.45 points to end at 49.15 and King Core (TW:6155) was down 9.98% or 2.45 points to 22.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 456 to 296 and 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in Right Way Ind (TW:1506) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.79% or 2.15 to 24.10. Shares in Pihsiang (TW:1729) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.98% or 5.45 to 49.15.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.80% or 0.38 to $48.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.93% or 0.47 to hit $50.93 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.13 to trade at $1255.87 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 30.036, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2297.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 98.92.
