Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plastic, Transport and Chemical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were F-Pcl (TW:4977), which rose 9.98% or 5.20 points to trade at 57.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Advantech Co Ltd (TW:2395) added 9.86% or 20.50 points to end at 228.50 and Hsin Kao Gas (TW:9931) was up 7.58% or 2.35 points to 33.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which fell 6.77% or 0.64 points to trade at 8.81 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 6.46% or 1.05 points to end at 15.20 and Sino Horizon (TW:2923) was down 6.39% or 1.75 points to 25.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 491 to 351 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.16% or 0.09 to $53.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $58.73 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1153.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.87% to 31.026, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1998.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.82.
