Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Electricity and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.10% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906), which rose 10.00% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Jentech (TW:3653) added 9.90% or 4.10 points to end at 45.50 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was up 9.86% or 0.560 points to 6.240 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chun Yu Works (TW:2012), which fell 3.06% or 0.45 points to trade at 14.25 at the close. China Metal (TW:1532) declined 2.75% or 1.00 points to end at 35.35 and Amtran Tech (TW:2489) was down 2.61% or 0.55 points to 20.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 471 to 283 and 98 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.34% or 0.60 to $45.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.10% or 0.51 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.73% or 9.75 to trade at $1333.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.48% to 32.028, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2088.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.29.
