Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Rubber and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gintech (TW:3514), which rose 9.91% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) added 9.91% or 16.50 points to end at 183.00 and Calin (TW:4976) was up 9.89% or 3.25 points to 36.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which fell 8.32% or 7.90 points to trade at 87.10 at the close. Pihsiang (TW:1729) declined 7.64% or 4.70 points to end at 56.80 and Logah (TW:3593) was down 7.27% or 0.80 points to 10.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 411 to 339 and 124 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) rose to all time highs; up 9.91% or 16.50 to 183.00. Shares in Pihsiang (TW:1729) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.64% or 4.70 to 56.80. Shares in Calin (TW:4976) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.89% or 3.25 to 36.10.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.50% or 0.25 to $49.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.56 to trade at $1264.76 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.120, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2293.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.83.
