Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Paper & Pulp and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442), which rose 9.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) added 9.94% or 0.71 points to end at 7.85 and Silergy Corp (TW:6415) was up 9.92% or 44.00 points to 487.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asia Polymer Corp (TW:1308), which fell 8.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.65 at the close. Yieh Phui Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:2023) declined 6.70% or 0.70 points to end at 9.75 and Kerry TJ Logistics Co Ltd (TW:2608) was down 5.81% or 2.15 points to 34.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 477 to 334 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asia Polymer Corp (TW:1308) fell to 5-year lows; falling 8.00% or 1.10 to 12.65. Shares in Kerry TJ Logistics Co Ltd (TW:2608) fell to 3-years lows; down 5.81% or 2.15 to 34.85.
Crude oil for January delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $51.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $59.98 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1230.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.787, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2258.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.672.
