Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Rubber and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Maxigen Biotech Inc (TW:1783), which rose 10.00% or 2.15 points to trade at 23.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) added 9.93% or 0.89 points to end at 9.85 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) was up 9.92% or 3.75 points to 41.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (TW:2368), which fell 5.47% or 0.70 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Leofoo Development Co Ltd (TW:2705) declined 5.29% or 0.38 points to end at 6.80 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) was down 5.11% or 0.60 points to 11.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 433 to 358 and 113 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.38% or 0.19 to $50.50 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $59.02 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 3.90 to trade at $1231.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.13% to 30.788, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2268.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 96.625.
