Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 0.88% or 0.045 points to trade at 5.174 at the close. Meanwhile, Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 0.77% or 0.130 points to end at 17.100 and Inditex (MC:ITX) was up 0.61% or 0.180 points to 29.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which fell 5.47% or 0.221 points to trade at 3.818 at the close. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 4.26% or 0.061 points to end at 1.372 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was down 3.08% or 0.297 points to 9.360.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 163 to 27 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.47% or 0.221 to 3.818.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.41% or 18.15 to $1306.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.02% or 1.45 to hit $46.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.44 to trade at $47.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1191, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7903.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 95.08.
