Spain stocks lower at close of trade; IBEX 35 down 0.52%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which rose 1.63% or 0.325 points to trade at 20.300 at the close. Meanwhile, Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) added 1.33% or 0.044 points to end at 3.360 and Naturgy Energy Group SA (MC:NTGY) was up 1.14% or 0.270 points to 24.020 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which fell 2.25% or 0.142 points to trade at 6.158 at the close. Cie Automotive (MC:CIEA) declined 1.82% or 0.440 points to end at 23.760 and Banco Santander (MC:SAN) was down 1.78% or 0.076 points to 4.199.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 101 to 68 and 20 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.25 to $1310.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.64% or 1.41 to hit $54.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.72% or 1.05 to trade at $62.25 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1421, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8742.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 95.593.
