Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Telefonica (MC:TEF), which rose 2.47% or 0.183 points to trade at 7.588 at the close. Meanwhile, Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) added 2.27% or 0.084 points to end at 3.790 and Gas Natural SDG SA (MC:GAS) was up 2.15% or 0.480 points to 22.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Melia Hotels (MC:MEL), which fell 1.43% or 0.170 points to trade at 11.700 at the close. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 0.97% or 0.100 points to end at 10.160 and ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) was down 0.82% or 0.200 points to 24.300.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 113 to 62 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indra A (MC:IDR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.97% or 0.100 to 10.160.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.44% or 5.50 to $1259.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $74.23 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.25 to trade at $78.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1662, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8819.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.24.
