Investing.com – South Africa stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials & Industrials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Johannesburg, the FTSE/JSE Top 40 gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE/JSE Top 40 were Vodacom Group Ltd (JO:VODJ), which rose 2.78% or 386 points to trade at 14302 at the close. Meanwhile, Reinet (JO:REIJ) added 2.59% or 65.00 points to end at 2579.00 and SABMiller PLC (JO:SABJ) was up 2.47% or 1562 points to 64139 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kumba Iron Ore Ltd (JO:KIOJ), which fell 4.01% or 606 points to trade at 14490 at the close. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd (JO:ANGJ) declined 3.44% or 377 points to end at 10588 and Brait (JO:BATJ) was down 3.08% or 380.00 points to 12160.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange by 139 to 96 and 23 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.98% or 1.77 to $57.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.47% or 0.94 to hit $62.66 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.20 to trade at $1169.60 a troy ounce.
USD/ZAR was up 0.70% to 12.2558, while EUR/ZAR rose 0.09% to 13.5740.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.58% at 96.31.
