Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which rose 0.47% or 0.110 points to trade at 23.700 at the close. Meanwhile, Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) added 0.11% or 0.04 points to end at 37.19 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.09% or 0.01 points to 17.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 2.88% or 1.29 points to trade at 43.43 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.84% or 0.60 points to end at 20.55 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was down 2.29% or 3.05 points to 129.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 87 to 35 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.88% or 1.29 to 43.43.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.06% to 11.89.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.41% or 0.69 to $49.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.94% or 1.00 to hit $52.49 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.74% or 9.29 to trade at $1269.29 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1747, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8950.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 93.23.
