Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI fell 1.53%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which unchanged 0.04% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 7.64 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was down 0.22% or 0.04 points to 18.33 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP), which fell 4.77% or 0.15 points to trade at 2.97 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) declined 3.12% or 0.29 points to end at 9.01 and Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) was down 2.93% or 0.08 points to 2.71.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 19 to 6 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.77% or 0.15 to 2.97. Shares in Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) unchanged to 3-years highs; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 7.64. Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) fell to 3-years lows; down 3.12% or 0.29 to 9.01.
Brent oil for March delivery was up 3.42% or 2.63 to $79.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.44% or 2.54 to hit $76.46 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.13% or 30.54 to trade at $2,721.34 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 109.51.
