Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI declined 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which rose 5.34% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) added 3.14% or 0.09 points to end at 2.82 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) was up 0.53% or 0.04 points to 7.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which fell 4.92% or 0.48 points to trade at 9.28 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) declined 3.43% or 0.65 points to end at 18.28 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) was down 3.28% or 0.10 points to 3.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 15 to 9 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.34% or 0.02 to 0.49. Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.92% or 0.48 to 9.28. Shares in Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) rose to 3-years highs; up 0.53% or 0.04 to 7.64. Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.28% or 0.10 to 3.07.
Brent oil for March delivery was down 1.17% or 0.90 to $76.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.17% or 0.87 to hit $73.38 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.72% or 19.31 to trade at $2,684.71 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 108.93.
