Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 2.73% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA), which rose 4.35% or 0.0110 points to trade at 0.2640 at the close. Meanwhile, Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) added 0.68% or 0.01 points to end at 0.73 and Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) was up 0.40% or 0.0020 points to 0.4980 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which fell 3.82% or 0.4950 points to trade at 12.4550 at the close. EDP (LISBON:EDP) declined 3.78% or 0.1250 points to end at 3.1830 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) was down 3.62% or 0.1240 points to 3.3060.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 52 to 14 and 3 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 2.54% or 1.19 to $45.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.71% or 1.12 to hit $40.20 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.55% or 6.40 to trade at $1159.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.18% to 1.1373, while EUR/GBP rose 1.06% to 0.7240.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.95% at 94.86.
