Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.66%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which fell 0.09% or 0.0010 points to trade at 1.1270 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) fell 0.13% or 0.0200 points to end at 15.7100 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was down 0.14% or 0.0010 points to 0.7020 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which fell 4.03% or 0.2760 points to trade at 6.5660 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 2.63% or 0.0780 points to end at 2.8930 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) was down 2.53% or 0.228 points to 8.784.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 42 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for January delivery was down 3.22% or 1.55 to $46.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.26% or 1.52 to hit $45.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.55% or 20.00 to trade at $1308.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1101, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9021.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 97.33.
