Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.51% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.0000 points to trade at 0.7700 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP (LS:EDP) unchanged 0.00% or 0.0000 points to end at 3.0800 and REN (LS:RENE) was down 0.33% or 0.0080 points to 2.4080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which fell 5.39% or 0.0860 points to trade at 1.5100 at the close. Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) declined 3.11% or 0.1590 points to end at 4.9460 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was down 2.66% or 0.0066 points to 0.2414.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 25 to 4 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.39% or 0.0860 to 1.5100.
Brent oil for January delivery was down 5.21% or 3.48 to $63.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 5.14% or 2.94 to hit $54.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.00 to trade at $1223.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1382, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8888.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 96.57.
