Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.65% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 2.53% or 0.35 points to trade at 14.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Sonae SGPS SA (ELI:YSO) added 1.40% or 0.01 points to end at 0.94 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) was up 1.36% or 0.05 points to 3.73 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT), which fell 1.12% or 0.10 points to trade at 8.40 at the close. Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) declined 0.55% or 0.04 points to end at 7.20 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) was down 0.42% or 0.01 points to 2.37.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 16 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.95% or 0.77 to $81.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.99% or 0.76 to hit $77.72 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.61% or 14.80 to trade at $2,422.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.96.
