Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.55% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 5.22% or 0.0023 points to trade at 0.0464 at the close. Meanwhile, Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA) added 3.53% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.2930 and Portucel (LS:PTI) was up 3.48% or 0.1100 points to 3.2700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP (LS:EDP), which rose 0.20% or 0.0060 points to trade at 2.9810 at the close. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) added 0.56% or 0.0600 points to end at 10.7550 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was up 0.73% or 0.0090 points to 1.2450.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 43 to 3 and 10 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for May delivery was down 1.93% or 0.78 to $39.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.45% or 1.33 to hit $37.17 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.29% or 16.20 to trade at $1243.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1095, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7749.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.62.
