Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which rose 3.99% or 0.2200 points to trade at 5.7300 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP (LS:EDP) added 1.29% or 0.0380 points to end at 2.9890 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.29% or 0.0030 points to 0.2364 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which fell 2.56% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.8740 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 1.57% or 0.0500 points to end at 3.1400 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) was down 1.20% or 0.110 points to 9.050.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 18 to 14 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.20% or 0.110 to 9.050.
Brent oil for February delivery was up 2.29% or 1.29 to $57.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.11% or 1.45 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.70 to trade at $1256.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.9031.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 96.102.
