Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 1.70% or 0.0165 points to trade at 0.9890 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP (LS:EDP) added 1.26% or 0.0440 points to end at 3.5330 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 1.24% or 0.2500 points to 20.3500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS), which fell 1.60% or 0.160 points to trade at 9.840 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 0.87% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.2285 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was down 0.86% or 0.0260 points to 2.9800.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 17 to 14 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in EDP (LS:EDP) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.26% or 0.0440 to 3.5330.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 2.05% or 1.52 to $72.69 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.47% or 1.01 to hit $67.75 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 6.00 to trade at $1217.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1666, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8894.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.45.
