Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 8.57% or 0.0152 points to trade at 0.1926 at the close. Meanwhile, Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS) added 3.19% or 0.260 points to end at 8.420 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 2.58% or 0.3600 points to 14.3400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which fell 2.36% or 0.1500 points to trade at 6.2000 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) declined 1.14% or 0.0900 points to end at 7.7800 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was down 0.68% or 0.0060 points to 0.8750.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 14 to 14 and 5 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for March delivery was up 3.92% or 2.30 to $61.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.28% or 2.13 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.33% or 4.25 to trade at $1290.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.78% to 1.1529, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.9026.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 94.877.
